Security and performance are priority
NEW! QTS 5.0.1 highlights
Improved for better, safer, and faster.
Enhanced system reliability
RAID disk replacement with spares before potential failure
If drive errors are noticed, whether through S.M.A.R.T. values, DA Drive Analyzer predictions, or system slow-down, you can replace an affected disk in a RAID group with a spare disk at any time. By removing the need to wait for the system to replace drives only after a failure occurs, system reliability is greatly improved and removes the need for RAID rebuild.
Convenient NAS file searching
Windows Search Protocol (WSP) support for NAS shared folders
Windows® 10/ Windows Server® 2016 (or later) users can easily search NAS shared folders via Windows® when an SMB drive is mounted to the NAS. Install Qsirch on the NAS for indexing contents of the NAS, then enjoy full-text search and advanced search by time, type, or size for greater convenience. Tutorial →
★ For an optimized full-text search experience, we recommend Qsirch PC Edition!
Secure file access
Disallow USB connections
You can choose to disallow all USB device types or only USB storage devices (such as flash drives, external hard drives, QNAP JBOD storage enclosures, and RAID expansion enclosures). This adds an extra layer of security to secure your NAS from potential harm.
Advanced data protection
Supports Enterprise SED (Self-Encrypting Drives)
Besides TCG-OPAL, QTS 5.0.1 supports TCG-Enterprise SED compliant HDDs and SSDs. Users can leverage the SED’s built-in encryption features for an extra layer of data protection without requiring extra software or NAS system resources. Learn more:Check the compatibility list to learn more
AES-NI acceleration for SMB 3 signing and encryption
For business applications that demand high-level security, SMB signing and encryption options help enhance file sharing security over the network, but can also negatively impact data transmission performance. QNAP NAS supports AES-NI hardware acceleration to increase data signing and encryption/decryption efficiency over SMB 3, boosting system performance while securing sensitive business data.
Note: ARM processors do not support AES-NI

Increase your security level
QTS 5.0.1 supports TLS 1.3 to improve security and performance, with automatic updates of QTS and apps to ensure your NAS operates under optimal conditions. You can also use SSH keys for authentication to secure access to your NAS, preventing password breaches or similar potential attacks.
Supports WireGuard VPN for secured internet connection
Your internet and public Wi-Fi connection may put your personal data and privacy at risk. VPN (Virtual Private Network) provides a safe and recommended way to protect your online activity while browsing the internet or remotely accessing your NAS. The new QVPN 3.0 integrates the popular, lightweight, and reliable WireGuard VPN, providing you with an easy-to-use interface for setting up a secure connection – an especially great tool for home and remote working.

Boosted NVMe SSD cache performance
The new kernel improves PCIe performance, which enables QTS 5.0.1 to enhance NVMe SSD performance and utilization. When cache acceleration is activated, SSD storage can be utilized more efficiently while also offloading memory resources. It maintains high performance even when multiple concurrent users access the same shared folders, and transferring large-size files via SMB/NFS becomes faster.
