The TS-531X is equipped with a quad-core AnnapurnaLabs, an Amazon company Alpine AL-314 1.7GHz processor by Amazon® and 2GB/8GB DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 16GB). Coupled with SATA 6Gb/s, two 10GbE SFP+ LAN ports and two Gigabit LAN ports, the TS-531X delivers up to 1723 MB/s throughput. The TS-531X also features hardware-accelerated encryption to deliver up to 298 MB/s throughput with AES 256-bit volume-based data encryption, boosting system performance & security while ensuring the safety of sensitive business data stored in the NAS.

Fast Disaster Recovery with Snapshots

The TS-531X supports block-based Snapshots, which can record and save the state of the file system and the metadata of the files outside the file system at any time. In the event of an unexpected NAS failure or if struck by a ransomware attack, the snapshots remain intact, allowing you to quickly and easily restore the system back to a previous normal state. You can preserve and restore multiple versions of the same file, folder or even the entire volume. The TS-531X supports up to 64 snapshots per volume or LUN (up to 256 in total). Snapshot Replica facilitates double protection that replicates snapshots to a remote QNAP NAS or server.

VJBOD: Maximize storage utilization across multiple QNAP NAS

Besides using expansion enclosures, there is an additional option to expand NAS storage capacity. QNAP VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) is network-based JBOD, allowing you to expand the storage of a QNAP NAS with multiple QNAP NAS units. The TS-531X offers great potential for economically expanding the storage of other QNAP NAS with VJBOD, and to create virtual storage pools and volumes on virtual disks for operating NAS services.

Please note: ARM-based NAS currently does not support VJBOD "Host" function to utilize other NAS storage space.

Rapidly deploy IoT apps with Container Station

Qcontactz: easily manage huge amounts of contacts on the NAS

Qcontactz is a dedicated app for centrally storing and managing contact information for colleagues, business partners, family, and more. A near-limitless number of contacts can be stored on the TS-531X, with the ability to sort them into groups and to encrypt sensitive/confidential contact information. Qcontactz supports manually adding contact information and importing from multiple Google accounts, CSV files, and vCARD 3.0 files. Qcontactz can also export contacts as CSV or vCARD 3.0 files. Important and frequently-used contacts are also automatically learned by Qcontactz for greater organization, and a smart search function is provided. Qcontactz offers snapshot backups that enable you to revert to a previous version of your contacts list according to your needs. A companion app for iPhone and Android phones is also available for transferring contacts from your phone to your NAS and to remotely access all of the your contacts stored on the NAS.

All-new Notes Station 3: handy private cloud notepad featuring collaborative writing function

The revamped Notes Station features an optimized interface for a smoother user experience. Notes Station allows users to collectively write documents and helps users to track changes by keeping the revision history of documents. Notes Station provides useful image-editing tools, helping you create well-designed documents. You can also create sharing links to share documents in real time. Documents can be encrypted to prevent unauthorized access, and snapshot backup is provided to retain different versions of documents edited at different time periods. With its importing/exporting and full-site backup functions, Notes Station supports backing up your documents to local or remote QNAP NAS.

Secure access with VPN Server & VPN Client

The TS-531X can be used as a VPN server with L2TP/IPsec, OpenVPN, and PPTP support, allowing you to securely access data shared within private local networks. It can also be used as a VPN Client to connect to other VPN servers (connecting multiple servers at the same time is possible) or virtual private networks through PPTP and OpenVPN for secure data transmission. You can connect devices to your NAS and the VPN server at home to access data on the LAN; via VPN Client on your NAS, for example, you can connect to VPN servers in foreign countries for accessing regionally-restricted services.

Qsirch - a smarter, faster way to search

The TS-531X supports Qsirch, a proprietary search engine for quick file searching. In addition to previewing files with thumbnails, content abstract and keyword hints, Qsirch allows you to search through .eml files stored on the TS-531X and to use customized search criteria such as date, size, sender and recipient. Qsirch even remembers your search history allowing you to quickly navigate to files you've previously searched for. The Qsirch Helper extension (for Google Chrome™ and Mozilla Firefox) can also be used to search for files on your NAS when using Google Search™. Qsirch is a huge productivity boost that greatly reduces the time spent looking for files on the NAS, allowing you to focus on other tasks.

Expand storage capacity easily

The TS-531X supports online capacity expansion by connecting two QNAP expansion enclosures for storing rapidly-growing data, especially ideal for storage-intensive applications such as video surveillance, data archiving, TV broadcast storage, and more. You can gradually expand the TS-531X's storage on demand, and use the QTS Storage Manager to easily handle the NAS capacity expansion and storage expansion enclosure management.

With the support of QJBOD Express (JBOD enclosures roaming)*, you can just connect a large capacity QNAP expansion enclosure to the TS-531X, and migrate data to another NAS through the JBOD enclosure without network connectivity.
